A nonlinear viscoelastic–viscoplastic constitutive model for adhesives under creep

Abstract In this study, we consider the nonlinear viscoelastic–viscoplastic behavior of adhesive films in scarf joints. We develop a three-dimensional model, which combines viscoelastic model with viscoplastic using von Mises yield criterion and kinematic hardening. implement an iterative scheme for solution numerical algorithm stress correction combined into finite element analysis. The component is calibrated creep-recovery data from parameters are residual strains recovered creep tests varying load durations. A two-dimensional form shows good agreement joint considered work compared experiment. results show favorable experimental recovery responses two epoxy systems. also discuss contribution viscoelasticity viscoplasticity to stress/strain distribution along center lines. Viscoplasticity tends lower concentration.
